Pratibha is committed to organically produce cotton as it not only helps us to provide the supreme quality of fabric to our clients but also facilitates us in playing the part in the conservation process on this planet. Through organic farming we aim to achieve sustainability for our farmers.
Organic farming promotes on farm input production thus more than 70% of inputs are produced on farm thereby reducing dependence on market and cost of inputs. Thus in case of crop failure farmers are more prepared to bear the shock then conventional farmers.
Organic farming focusses on multi-cropping system. Thus dependence of farmers is not on one crop there by reducing risks and protecting livelihood.Conventional Mono cropping does give initially more yield. In organic system we aim to focus not on one crop but multi crops in same acreage thereby increasing the economic yield per acre.
On farm input management reduces cost of inputs by 30+ % further compensating for yield losses. Reduced cost of inputs means comparatively less debts for organic farmers. On farm inputs production results in lesser dependence on market.
Organic farming brings a kind of change in attitude of farmers. When they learn to live in co-existence with ecology this reflects in their social behavior as well. They prefer to live in more harmony with community members, they adopt to better value system and also become change leaders in community to fight against evil customs.
